Last week, during Holy Week, Bishop Rodrigo Romano of Mision Catolica del Divino Nazareno invited three of the team leaders from Little Brown Mission (LBM) to preach during a "Seven Last Words of Jesus" service. The service was Wednesday night at LBM, following a communion service at North East of the Well, another of LBM's mission partners.
Here's the exciting moment. Pastor Laura Suk from North East of the Well, Pastor Eun Ae Bae from Loving Light Church, and I all delivered short homilies to a gathered Latino congregation of about 150 persons. We spoke some Spanish, some English, and some Korean. The congregation loved seeing a Latino, two Anglos, and one Asian up front modeling the Kingdom of God as we gathered around the cross of Jesus. As I listened to Bishop Rodrigo, Pastor Laura, and Pastor Bae speak, I heard the Holy Spirit say, "Here's what Little Brown Mission looks like!" It was a Pentecost moment.
One of the main functions of LBM is to present a unified ethnic and gender inclusive witness to the power of Jesus in Long Beach. In our future team meetings we will be planning more shared events. Please keep up with us and join with us. Already you can join in on Wednesday evenings with North East of the Well or on Sundays with MCDN or Loving LIght Church.
God bless you all, Jeff
