Last Thursday evening the entire LBM team went to the Los Ranchos Presbytery meeting to do two workshops and lead worship. We were thrilled that a larger group of elders and pastors got a chance to hear about LBM and the urban mission hub that we are becoming.
Here are a few highlights:
At the workshops, each ministry leader shared their particular outreach in Long Beach and how they have benefitted by begin part of the LBM team. Laura Suk from North East of the Well talked about coming to Long Beach in the summer of 2014, and how the ministry has grown from a few women coming to 50-60 ladies out every Wednesday evening. Eun Ae Bae shared about the start of Loving Light Church, an outreach to Koreans, which began in January of 2016. Rodrigo Romano told of how he came to Long Beach from Brazil and started Mision Catolica del Divino Nazareno at LBM. Then Christine Lee Smith spoke of sharing her vision of outreach through art and beauty to a segment of the Long Beach population. Finally, Derek Brooks of LBM told the story of his journey from New York City to Long Beach, and his outreach to homeless in the city.
The greatest joy of the evening was the LBM team leading worship. Kristel Miles and the NEOW team, along with Pastor Jeff and Christine Lee Smith. During the service, Pastor Eun Ae Bae read scripture, and Star Larsuel, Derek Brooks, and Rodrigo Romano spoke on the them of Walking Through Samaria from John 4. It was great evening. People received us with great enthusiasm
